This site is located in Chennai – Kolathur and is north facing. Dimension of the property is 30′ x 70′. Site has neighbourhood and house at 30′ road.

Considering the ventilation and lighting, we planned to give 3′ setback around the house. Which is also used to access the service area at the behind. If there is any drainage issues in future, it is helpful in accessing those inspection chambers.

The east volume is subtracted to provide courtyard which brings in maximum lighting and ventilation to the house. The courtyard brings the SE wind the house. We also purposely designed the house to avoid the west side lighting which are usually hotter. The reflection of lights from the east side building will enter the house so that it is not that hot to feel.

The spaces has been zoned considering the privacy of the residence. The public spaces like living room, Guest room, Pooja are placed at front and is shown as blue color. Private space like kitchen, dinning are shown as orange. Maids and servants can access the kitchen and service area through the set back spaces which are marked as maroon color.
